Some guy dressed as Batman delivered a wanted man to a police station in England before disappearing into the night.

Her Majesty The Queen is in the hospital for one day and the entire constabulary force collapses forcing citizens to resort to vigilantism to keep their streets safe.

My plan to save the UK:

1. Release the prisoner Charles Bronson and appoint him as the head of a new police force with jurisdiction over the entirety of the UK.
2. Film the whole thing, Manhunt style, and release it as Death Wish 6: Tea Time Is Over starring Charles Bronson playing Charles Bronson as Paul Kersey.
3. Profit.

Should the National Guard be permanently deployed in Detroit?

Of course not. I can’t think of a worse idea for the city of Detroit (okay, maybe this one). Proponents for this cite an increase in crime and a lack of funding for the police force as the main reason for this request.

Deploying the National Guard in the city of Detroit to snuff out crime is like using a fire hose to snuff out a candle; it might work but you’re probably going to fuck up a lot of shit in the process (and the wick can be lit again very easily). Just look back to the ‘67 riots when federal troops were deployed. Laws regarding the deputization of federal troops are not clear which meant that the National Guardsmen and Army soldiers in the city were there with one mission; stop the snipers and looters with deadly force. They did their job and the disturbance (classified as an insurrection by Governor Romney and President Johnson) was broken up over the course of about a day.

If the National Guard is brought in to patrol Detroit today, what will stop them from doing the job that they’re trained to do (kill)? Arrests wont be made, death tolls will rise, citizens will be terrorized by another potentially corrupt force, and the city will be in worse shape than ever before. If this is what the future holds for my city, then I’m done holding out for a better future here. Detroit will soon be nothing but a warning to all other cities of what can happen to a great city and people when every problem is handled in the wrong way.

Detroit’s Finest on a budget. Just out of frame: Robocop giving a field sobriety test.
